Camp Nanowrimo Sneak Peek!

Here is another unedited Camp Nanowrimo sneak peek of Dangerous Desires, the second book in the Mafia Hearts series! Get the first book here!

He sipped the soda the waitress placed on the table. “We needed to meet somewhere private because what I have to say to you is extremely sensitive. Nobody can know about the issue. Do I have your trust?”
She slowly nodded her head. Of course he could trust her. What a stupid question.
“You’ll be the assistant to the madam, right?”
“Mm hm. That’s what you told me last night.” Her heart raced with anticipation of the secret he was about to lay on her.
“I believe that someone is stealing money from me.” He plucked a tortilla chip from a wooden bowl and crunched on it.
“That isn’t good, but what does that have to do with me?”
“I think it is someone in my escort office and I’m sending you in there to be the assistant but also to find out who the hell is stealing from me.”
She narrowed her eyes and said, “So like be a spy.”
“Absolutely. As an assistant, you’ll have access to all the documents and will be able to see the activities going on it the office. Will you do it?”
Did she want to be planted somewhere to rat other people off? It wasn’t good that they were stealing from Sebastian but damn. What if she got caught? She had to do it. The risk was worth it to her to get the answers she needed and the job she wanted.
“Okay, I’ll do it.” She smiled as she waited for his response.
He took a drink of soda and then grinned. “Great. I really appreciate this.”
                “Not so fast, Sebastian.”
Setting the glass down onto the table while locking eye contact with her, he said, “What does that mean?”
“It means that I do you a favor and want something in return.”
“Isn’t a big fat paycheck enough?”
She shook her head. “I’ve wanted this for a long time. Did you ever wonder what you were going to eat for dinner because your mother hadn’t found work yet in the twelfth town you lived in that year? Or if you’d have to wear dirty clothes to school again?”
“Mia,” he said, sliding his hand over hers, “things weren’t that bad at Crestview.”
She liked the physical contact between them. His touch sent shivers up her spine. Wanting to keep her composure and her mind focused on business instead of her damp panties, she pulled her hand away. “After my father’s murder. My mother took off in fear and we moved from city to city. I was hungry most nights because she never made enough. I knew then that I wanted to go back to Las Vegas and become involved in what my father had been trying for. A crime family. Your crime family.”

My Secret Saturday- Dangerous Desires

I wrote this scene just for My Sexy Saturday. It's unedited, but I hope you like it! This is going into the "extra scenes" file for Dangerous Desires, Mafia Hearts Book 2. Maybe it'll make it in. If you want to get hooked on a new naughty series, check out Dangerous Flames, Mafia Hearts Book 1. You can buy Dangerous Flames here!

Mia finished drying the last her hair and turned the blow dryer off, allowing her to hear the frantic knock on the front door of her apartment. Glancing down at the towel covering her naked body, panic formed into her chest. She rushed into her bedroom where her new red satin robe waited on the bed. She slid the smooth sleeves up her arms and let the towel fall to her feet. The knocks sounded again.

“I’m coming,” she called. “Just give me a minute.” She secured the belt around her waist as she scurried down the hall. Flinging the door open, she froze. There he was, the very man she wanted with her tonight.

“Sebastian.”

“Please don’t think I lack manners for dropping by so late. I tried calling first.” Without waiting for a reply, Sabastian stepped past her to enter her living room. His boldness in invading her space following such a nice statement made her giggle.

“I would never think any such thing. Why did you decide to stop by at--” She glanced at the clock on the Blu-ray player, “almost midnight?”
He ran a hand over his unshaven chin. “Listen, Mia. I think you’re way over your head here.”

As she listened to his words, she couldn’t distract her mind from wandering over the length of him along with her gaze. His tousled dark hair looked as if he’d recently climbed out of bed, the stubble on his tan skin claimed the same, and his t-shirt and designer jeans looked like he’d pulled them from the hamper. This side of Sebastian was a different one she knew… and she’d never seen him look sexier.

“Way over your head,” he repeated, taking a step closer. His gruff voice pulled her from her thoughts but did nothing to zap the passion building in her. “Listen to me.”

“Over my head with what, Sabastian? Wanting to work with the Mafia or trying to seduce you?”

He took another step closer. “You haven’t tried to seduce me.” His gaze traveled over her face and rested on her skin showing from between the folds of the satin robe.

“I am now,” Mia said, pushing the delicate fabric from her body.

Write at the Merge: Week 34

Hello, readers!

I decided to participate in the Write at the Merge: Week 34. The prompt is a sign Millie's Tavern sign and a Beastie Boys song. The prompts (especially the song) came at a great time and made a scene pop into my head. If you're a fan of my Mafia Hearts series, you will probably love this because you'll get a sneak peek at the next book.

Remember, this scene is done from a writing prompt and is unedited. I hope you enjoy!

Mia smoothed down her black miniskirt as she rushed toward the break room door, pausing a moment to stare up at the Millie’s Tavern sign hanging on the wall next to the row of employee lockers. This wasn’t Millie’s Tavern and she wondered about the story behind the sign. No time to worry about that now. She had a total of five minutes to be completely ready for her shift to start and on a Saturday evening in the casino, that might be hard to do with the hordes of people and random customers clutching her arm to grab them a this-or-that.

She hurried out into the hallway, made a sharp right, and pushed open the door to the casino’s club. The booming bass from No Sleep Till Brooklyn bounced her eardrums as people grind against one another on the dance floor. She hurried behind the counter to check in with her manager, who pointed to the far corner of the club. The VIP area.

Mia froze in her tracks. There he was. Sebastian. Her pulse pounded as she looked him over. He had the same shade of hair with soft waves. His pudgy face had given away to smooth contoured cheeks and jaw. The biggest clues to his identity were the small dimple on his chin and splash of freckles over the bridge of his nose. Yep, Sebastian had finally arrived.

Her heart raced  as she stared at the man she’d spent so many years planning to find and then searching for. No, she wasn’t one of those ex-girlfriends coming back to claim some undying love, or a baby she’d hid from him. It wasn’t anything like that. Finding him was all about business. So what was the stinging feeling in her stomach when a woman rested her thin hand on his bicep as she whispered into his ear?

There was no way she could approach him while he was on date. Mia didn’t need a catfight at her job. Hopefully he’d be in her section, giving her a chance to talk with him. He might even recognize her. With the classy black suit, shiny black Oxfords, and the twinkling diamonds in his watch, he’d qualify for her section, so it was possible.
