Technology and the Woman

Sorry I haven't been posting much lately. You see, I have had a problem. Nope, not hurt fingers (preventing me to type), not illness (confining me to bed), or some fun-filled vacation. It's called: I bought a new computer and a Android phone. Uh huh. You're asking what the big deal is because most authors would be giddy and have their fingers flying over the keys, right? Not me.

My old laptop is a Toshiba with just the right size, just the right programs, just the right edition of windows. What's wrong then? My Toshiba is dying a slow, painful death so it was time to get a new computer. So... Dan, the lovely man that he is, takes me out to pick out a computer. Buying the old Toshiba was a one hour affaire at the store. I walked in with the cash, walked out with my new "baby". This time Dan had us visit the local electronic stores to help me decide which computer I actually wanted. "I only use Toshiba computers," I had said. He chuckled, saying, "But, babe, there are better computers than Toshiba and you deserve the best." After looking at computers several different times, I settled on an Alienware laptop. Apparently this is a big deal with gamers. I'm not a gamer though. Check out the picture. Nice, huh? Mine has pink keys and works because.... well, I'm a pink kind of girl.

We were on our way to pick the computer up from another store across town (our local store didn't have it stocked) and Dan decided to stop by the cell store. We'd also been discussing upgrading my phone too. An hour later I walked out with an Android.

The past few days have been trying to get used to these two technology objects in my possession which hasn't been easy. The computer has all brand spankin' new programs which are driving me crazy and the phone... well, the phone isn't the easiest thing to learn either. I certainly wasn't born with the talent to manipulate these types of objects easily. It seriously took me no less than 30 minutes to figure out where the restart bottom was on the computer.

Anyway, now that I have the basics figured out I'm back here.

What Are You Reading, Wendy?

Authors not only write the books but are generally avid readers. And a lot of us love to talk about books! So... I'm adding a new feature on my blog. Why? Two reasons really. Besides loving books, I joined a reading challenge on GoodReads and I'm really behind. This might hold me accountable to reading more.

Here is what I'm reading right now:

Out of Left Field by Morgan Kearns

What drew me to this book:

I met Morgan at a book signing in 2012 and was instantly drawn to her romance baseball series. I bought the first two books and started reading them on the ride home. I fell in love with Morgan's characters and writing style. I signed books with Morgan a few weeks ago and bought the next 2 books in the baseball series. Don't worry. The books in her series don't have to be read in order.

Like bad boys in your books? Out of Left Field has the best of 'em! Don't worry.

Book Blurb:

Strike One

Xavier is a jerk with a capital A.S.S. and he offers no apologies. If a woman is willing to give, he’ll gladly take, walking away without a backward glance. He’s not looking for commitment and the only diamond he’s interested in has three bases and a home plate.

Strike Two

Dr. Frances Holden knows all about fixing broken bones and taming arrogant athletes. As the Team Doctor for the Las Vegas Rockets she deals with stubborn ballplayers every day. But nobody is more stubborn than Left Fielder Matthias Xavier III.

Strike Three

When a shoulder injury takes Xavier out of the game, it’s Frankie’s job to get him back on the diamond. His rehab turns out to be more than either of them bargained for, and when she promises to help him face his scarred past, neither of them are prepared for the fireworks that come Out of Left Field and threaten to scorch them both.

A special woman in her own right, she possesses unique telepathic abilities, gifts that have recently come under the scrutiny of the Acta Sanctorum, a fanatical organization whose mission is to cleanse the world of anything supernatural. Targeted, and marked for death, Kitara’s only hope lies with the lethally seductive yet emotionally scarred warrior, Nicholas.
Knowing full well the atrocities the Acta Sanctorum is capable of, Nicholas is all too eager for the battle to begin. Fueled by pain and rage from the loss of his mate, he’s itching for a fight, but one thing stands in his way, Kitara: a beautiful dark-haired woman with unique psychic abilities and an unusual link to the Saints. Despite his resolve to remain focused on his mission, a purely physical relationship binds them together in a way neither of them expected. Heartbreaker Blog Hop

Do you enjoy a heartthrob or a heartbreaker in your romance? In Jesse's Brother there is both. Yep, they are brothers too. Samantha had a heck of a time trying to choose between the men because each had some wonderful things about them. As an author I enjoyed writing this book. Having both types of men provided a fun fix with the writing because most of my books contain one type of hero.

The Super Bowl and a New Hero!

Sorry I haven't blogged in awhile. We've had a crazy time between my mom's heart surgery, the flu hitting our family, and the truck breaking down. Whew. I sure am glad most of that is over and we are onto some great things.

Like many, many people, we watched the big game yesterday. You should know that I'm not a football lovin' girl. Dan (my honey) is only a slightly bigger fan of the game than I am. The only game he watches all year is the Super Bowl. Yep. Our TV was tuned into the game. Dan is so great for putting up with my incredibly stupid football questions and comments about the game. We had such yummy food and we ate way too much. Dan had a stomach ache for the second half of the game so we went to bed early.

My favorite commercials: Best Buy and Calvin Klein.
The worse: GoDaddy... those people kissing were just gross.

One thing that happened during the game is I saw this player on the television and became inspired to base a hero on him. Who is it? Colin Kaepernick. There is something about him that made my brain scream, "HERO! HERO!" We'll see where the hero shows up in a future book. Not sure who Colin is? Here are some pictures.

Talk to you soon,
Wendy Ely
