Sexiest Man Alive?

Okay... the decision has been made... and here is the sexiest man alive. Last year was Channing Tatum which I totally agree with. I don't know who this man is, but he isn't too bad either. What are your thoughts. If you wouldn't pick him, who would you pick?

I'm Upset!

I hurried out of bed this morning with one thing on my mind... writing! With everyone still fast asleep, I made coffee, grabbed my laptop and started going through my files, looking for the one manuscript I wanted to work on... Lost and Found, Desert Secrets book 3. And then I noticed the date that I had started the story. Ready for this? January 1st of 2010! I've been working on this one single book off and on for 3 years. My readers have been waiting for this book for 3 years!  I know they have because I get emails. Sigh.

It's time to finish that book already...

If you want to get hooked on another series, try out Confessions. You can find it here. Midnight secrets is the 2nd book in the series.

Write at the Merge: Dangerous Desires

“What did you just call me?” Sebastian asked from somewhere in the office behind her.

Even though Mia wanted to rush into his arms again, she refused to turn around. She never knew what to expect when in his company. He always left her guessing everything from how she felt to what she wanted in the future… and wanting more than what she was given. This had to stop. Crossing her arms across her chest, she said, “You’re like a tornado to my emotions. When you’re around me I get all tingly, but then reality sets in, changing my feelings toward you into something else.” She felt him move behind her. “And those feelings aren’t usually pleasant.” He turned her around. It took every ounce of strength to avoid his gaze as she continued her explanation. “And then you do something so damned irresistible—”

He put his finger to her lips to quiet her words. “Well, this tornado loves you. What will make you believe me?”

She let out a breath as her gaze traveled up the smooth lines of his jaw, over his thin lips, and locked onto his eyes. “Sebastian?” Mia’s heart raced with excitement. To calm her pulse, she took a deep breath and slowly let it out before asking, “You really love me?”

“I do. Hopefully that’ll be the prominent emotion I stir up in you too.”

I used a writing prompt from Write at the Merge. The prompt was the phrase, "this tornado loves you. What will make you believe me?" and decided to write a new scene for the next book in my Mafia Hearts series. Interested in the series? Grab the first book here

It's Snowing in the Book but 90 degrees Here!

Toward the end of the summer I received the invite to write a novella for a fall anthology. The requirement was that the story had to take place in the fall when it's cold. You see, I'm in Arizona so my fall season isn't the same as everyone else's. We have our fall now... and it's 90 degrees today.

Anyway, when I decided to write this novella for the anthology, it had to be about 112 or so. I dunno, but it sure was smokin' hot outside. During the summer months we have to be careful while outside because of the heat. When visiting the store you have to watch your hands opening the door to the store or your car. Cars overheat and tires blow
. Kids get dehydrated super fast. Swimming isn't even fun anymore because the pool isn't cool. So when facing the task of writing a novella about a frost (something we NEVER have!) I had to take myself some place else mentally. I used to live in Northern Arizona where it did snow on occasion. I had to force myself to remember snuggling deep inside of a warm jacket (we don't own anything warmer than a hoodie here!) and what it felt like to have snow hit my cheeks. I had to force myself to forget about the heat around me and make believe I lived in the cold while I wrote my character's story.

See how well I did with this. Grab a copy of First Frost here. It's free!

The First Frost anthology is here!

I'm so excited to announce that the First Frost anthology is available now! You can grab a copy here for free. If you ask me, there isn't a better price than that.

The novella I have in this anthology is In His Embrace. Here is the blurb:

When life’s glow threatens to die in a person, love’s light guides the way.

Tori expected Friday to be completely ordinary: a quick goodbye to her best friend who was going away on a business trip for the weekend, a routine checkup at her doctor’s office, and the rest of the day filled with work. But she was wrong. Ben’s hand rested on her hips a little longer than usual during their goodbye, igniting sparks she’d tried to ignore for years, and then her tests came back abnormal. Scared and alone, she wishes for one person’s hand to hold–Ben’s. He is trying to make it back before her next doctor visit, but can he?

My Sexy Saturday: A Sneak Peek of Jesse's Girl?

Did you read Jesse's Brother and wonder what happened to the other brother? Ta da! I bring you the very first sneak peek to the sequel, Jesse's Girl. If you haven't read the first book, you can pick up the Romance Super Bundle now! Jesse's Brother is one of the books in the bundle. Buy the Romance Super Bundle Here!

Enjoy Jesse's Girl:

The next Thursday Jesse found himself in exercise gear in another session of beginner yoga. He still didn’t enjoy the class and would rather be sitting behind his desk in a meeting with clients even though the view of Zoey’s backside provided great scenery.
“Downward Dog,” she called out to the five other people in the room. “Let me demonstrate and then I’ll walk around to help you develop the correct form.”
Jesse didn’t need to know the correct anything while in this class but pretended to be an attentive student as Zoey bent over with her hands and feet planted on the mat, her legs spread apart to have her ass up in the air. Sure, it was supposed to be some sort of exercise move but Zoey’s smokin’ body made Jesse switch his thoughts from fitness to pornographic fantasies where Zoey starred. He let his gaze travel over her firm ass and settled on her center. As he shifted his position on his yoga mat to relieve the tension growing in his lap, he wondered how the hell he was going to do downward dog with a hard-on.
He got into position. “Zoey, is this right?” he called out so she would move out of the pose, but he hadn’t expected her to come over to him.
“Almost but not quit, Jesse.” When she slid her hand up the back of his hamstring, his breath caught in his chest, almost causing him to choke when it finally rushed between his lips.
“Relax,” she said softly. “And don’t lock your knees.”

He would’ve been able to relax if she didn’t continue to slide her smooth hand up to the back of his thigh. “I’m trying.”

Haunted Cemetery Part 2

The truth is that I didn't need realize the response I'd get about my visit to the cemetery so the few pictures I took sucked on that trip. However, I have revisited the cemetery to get some more pictures to share.

I have done some research on this cemetery and found that there was a small town named Adamsville just down the road from the cemetery. In 1900 the town flooded and a lot of people died. They were buried in an extended part of the cemetery and nobody knows exactly how many people are buried there because only the important people have headstones. I found another document saying that the people in Adamsville had been doing a rain ceremony shortly before the flood and cut the head off a chicken. The people on the Indian reservation across the street thought they were performing witchcraft and a fight broke out. Here is what is left of Adamsville:

The whole reason why I wanted to visit the cemetery were the 'witches' graves near the road. I couldn't find much information about these witches except for the hint of witchcraft that I mentioned above. Notice in the pictures that there are no headstones and someone occasionally puts flowers on the graves. Here is a better picture of the witches graves.

The interesting part of this is that I've asked people around Florence about these graves. Most people have heard of the witches, a few agree that the place is haunted, but nobody really knows the story. Nobody knew of Adamsville. I hear that if you go to the graves at night, you might see the witches wandering around.

My experience in the cemetery was interesting. First of all, I never get scared in graveyards, but this one had me on edge the moment I stepped out of the car. I was wearing capris that day that went to my knees. The first strange thing that happened was when I walked into the cemetery. The front of my legs started itching and burning. The feeling was intense enough to offer discomfort but not to put me in pain. I ignored the sensation and kept exploring the place. The itching/burning left as quickly as it came about 5 minutes later.

The second incident was right before we left. I heard a woman's voice in the small patch of trees in the corner of the cemetery. I asked Dan if he'd heard anything and he said no.  I didn't go over there on this trip but did on my second. Take a look at the pictures. The first one shows that there are no houses in the area that would allow a woman's voice to travel from. The second shows the patch of trees where I heard it from and the third is the single grave among the trees.

The third thing was a picture I took on the 2nd trip there. My daughter says the blur is my finger. I tried retaking the picture with my finger in the same location and looking the same way. The second picture is the closest we were able to get and was taken at a different location. I don't think it looks the same. You be the judge...

Here are some random pictures of the cemetery. As you can see, the place is worn out and has been vandalized. It makes me sad to visit because I see the attempt that someone makes to better the place without much luck.

Guess what else? My daughter has convinced Dan to take her there at night. I won't be going! Instead, I'll be begging local friends to let me hang out at their houses while my family goes ghost hunting.
